I have always been fascinated by trees. Especially when they stand alone in the fall and winter. This isn't from any scene I actually saw, but more from just thinking about them. I liked the idea of the tree alone on one shore with warmth around it in the setting sun and warm ground when across the lake were cooler distant hills. I just like the feel. It makes me think of soft mournful music.
